Itinerary
If I died today I would have been very happy. This mornings trip on Lake Titicaca and Uros was amazing. We took a boat from the hotel to some of the floating islands. The islands are made of the reeds that grow on the lake. It takes about three months to make an island - depending on the size of the island. On the way to the islands we saw an upside-down rainbow. Was that ever neat! Once we made it onto the island, it was as if I was walking on pillows. Some parts were very soft. It was a blast. We then got a ride on a reed canoe. It was so comfortable and amazing. They have long poles that they anchor the islands to so they don't go anywhere. It was a beautiful morning. A little cloudy so it was not that hot and a little breeze. It was very peaceful on the reed canoe. We spent a good two hours on the lake and I didn't want to come back to land. We came back a different way and the clouds started to clear. The lake is such a wonderful color of blue/green. In the afternoon we went to Sillustani. This is an ancient burial grounds. There were two different tombs - one made by Aymaras and one made by the Incas. I sure hope my pictures turn out. I'm almost out of film. I have four rolls left and three disposable cameras. I'm feeling good. I have been taking my pills and think I have it finally figured out. My nose is still bleeding like crazy but so is everyone else. I guess a couple needed oxygen last night at dinner and had to be carried to their room. A lot of people have been affected by the Altitude Sickness. On one of the reed islands there was a guy who had to lay down and rest. Tomorrow is going to be a long day so I'm going to bed early again. |
